ITANAGAR, Mar 06: Dangwimsai Pul, wife of former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Kalikho Pul on Monday alleged MoS for Home Kiren Rijiju of hatching a conspiracy in stalling her plans of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“I was optimistic of getting help and assistance from the MPs of our state in my fight for justice, particularly Kiren Rijiju, because he was a good friend of my late husband. In addition to him being an MP, he also commands and exerts commendable power and reputation in the national level as the MoS for Home Affairs. However, to utter my surprise he did not even concede to give me an audience, least to talk of assisting and advising me regarding the case,” Dangwimsai told a news conference at Arunachal Press Club (APC) here.
“I am aghast that the man who has time to lecture on whether to eat beef or not or to opine for the causes of ABVP wing of Delhi University Students, did not have the time to look into the matter of a former chief minister of his state who used to be his colleague. These things give me reasons to doubt that even my plan to try to meet the prime minister was stalled by him,” the widow alleged.
Lamenting that even the Supreme Court, in which she had big hopes could not do much for her and instead tried to dismiss the case, Dangwimsai said, “I was very hopeful of getting justice through the contents of 'Mere Vichaar" because there are very shocking and serious allegations made against various constitutional heads, politicians in etc. Moreover, a suicide note is a dying man's declaration under Article 32 of the Evidence Act. However, Chief Justice of India (CJI) J S Khehar instead of passing an administrative order converted my application into a writ petition and listed it before a bench. This directive of Justice Khehar's has also compelled me to doubt the integrity of the whole process.
“I was not served any notice in advance for the hearing. I was informed through a telephone call on the night of February 22 last that hearing for my case had been fixed for the next day at court No 13. I was not even given enough time even to consult my lawyer. To be precise, the CJI was trying to bury the matter so that an investigation could be avoided, Dangwimsai added.
She further asserted that the case would have been dismissed had she not withdrew it.
“When I smelled conspiracies and foul plays and everything seemed to fail me, I wrote a letter to the Vice President of India. Although I could not get an audience with the Vice President for he was out of the country, I submitted a letter to his secretariat. I have also submitted a letter to the Secretary General of the Supreme Court for his kind information and reference,” Dangwimsai informed.
She further alleged leaders of the state of trying to sabotage her campaign in every possible way and appealed Prime Minister Modi to live up to his promise of creating a ‘corruption free India’ and snatch the power of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and government spokesperson P D Sona so that a fair and free investigation could be initiated in the case.
She at the time also thanked Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal for his assurance to help her.
Speaking on the occasion, Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) Chairman Takam Tatung expressed resentment over the governor not being able to take out time for them.
“The governor, being the constitutional head of state is supposed to be equal to all. However, such has not been the case,” added Tatung further informing that they are yet to hear from the governor on the memorandum they submitted on February 13 last.
Meanwhile, Pul’s eldest son Ojingso who was also present in the conference appealed the students' union of state, particularly All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) to support him and his family in their struggle.
