Stick to teacher rationalisation deadline, officials told

ITANAGAR, May 13: The two-day meeting of the state’s DDSEs, in connection with rationalisation of teachers, concluded on Saturday. It was chaired by Education Minister Honchun Ngandam.

The cabinet-approved rationalisation process, being carried out for the transfer and posting of teachers, will be implemented from June.

Ngandam called upon all officials of the department for carrying out the exercise expeditiously. “The officers must monitor the rationalisation process regularly and ensure compliance within prescribed timeframe. They must also take necessary measures so that the information, duly verified by them, is furnished timely,” he added.

“In order to properly utilise the available teaching staff with the department, it is imperative that the deployment of staff is in such balanced way that it maximises benefit to the students,” Ngandam said.

He also called upon the officers and staff of the directorate to work with renewed energy in revamping the education scenario from the next academic session.

Ngandam also emphasised on completion of Aadhaar enrolment and opening of bank accounts of students and teachers as early as possible and asked all DDSEs to complete the task on time.

Education Parliamentary Secretary Pani Taram reminded the officers of the department of the government’s zero-tolerance policy in health and education sectors. He appreciated the efforts put in by some officers for timely solution to the rationalisation process while seeking action against officers who skipped the meeting.

Underscoring the guidelines for the rationalisation exercise, Education Special Secretary Mitali Namchoom urged the DDSEs to submit the status of Aadhaar enrolments and opening of bank account immediately. She also directed theDDSEs, principals and headmasters to take personal interest and be accountable in this regard.

Earlier, six groups created for finalisation of district-wise rationalisation of teachers presented their reports and review of work done by each.

The meeting also discussed issues such as establishment and finance, smart classroom, action against absentee teachers, poor standard of learning and teaching outcome.
