PASIGHAT, May 17: The Pasighat Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun the process of installing GI tipping dustbins under Swachh Bharat Mission for improving garbage disposal within its jurisdiction.
Local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary (Disaster Management) Kaling Moyong launched the city-wide installation by unveiling the foundation plaque at Gandhi Chowk here on Wednesday. The event coincided with the observation of the second phase of the fortnight-long Swachhta Drive for May.
Addressing the gathering, Moyong hoped that such initiative will facilitate better garbage management for a clean and beautiful Pasighat towards the goal of Swacch Bharat as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Let’s all work together for a cleaner and garbage-free city,” he said, seeking the cooperation of everyone to make the centurion Pasighat one of the cleanest cities in Arunachal Pradesh.
Moyong also lauded the PMC led by Chief Councillor Kaling Doruk for ensuring better sanitation facilities.
Earlier, PMC’s MEO Aintein Koyu highlighted the Swachhta Drive under Swacch Bharat Mission and said the GI tipping dustbins would facilitate efficient garbage disposal and collection from source point.
Doruk said religious and spiritual leaders would be engaged for the Swachhta Drive from May 16-31 for encouraging the participation of all stakeholders of the society.
PMC technicians later demonstrated how a tipping dustbin works.
