ITANAGAR, May 23: Parliamentary Secretary for Home Pani Taram on Tuesday convened a meeting of security officers in which the security scenario of Capital Complex was discussed at length. The daylight attack on Audit and Pension Director Abdul Bashit at his office in Naharlagun on Monday prompted the meeting.

Taram asked the director general of police to maintain strict vigil and keep track of any suspicious movement on all entry and exit points of Banderdewa, Hollongi, Gumto, Midpu and Naharalgun Railway Station.

“Theses check gates need to be strengthened. Necessary re-enforcement will be provided as and when required,” he said.

Taram appealed all the citizens of Capital Complex in particular and the state as whole to cooperate with the law enforcement agency in maintaining law and order.

The parliamentary secretary termed Monday’s attack as unfortunate and asserted that the state government will not tolerate such incidents.

Assuring that the miscreants involved in the case will be nabbed, he said: “The police are well equipped and experienced to tackle such situations. Efforts are on to catch the culprits soon for law to take its own course.”

DGP Sandip Goel and IGP (Law and Order) Nobin Payeng were among several officials who attended Tuesday’s meeting.
