Prepare holistic plan for SBA (Gramin): Felix

ITANAGAR, Mar 06: PHE and WS minister Bamang Felix has called upon the field level officers of the department to be prepared with a holistic plan to achieve the objective of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Gramin) to make Arunachal open defecation free a year ahead of the national target of October 02, 2019.

The clarion call from the minister came when he along with parliamentary secretary for PHE & WS Kumsi Sidisow on Monday sat for a meeting with field level officers from various districts including executive engineers, assistant engineers and consultants and reviewed the progress of SBM (Gramin) here.

 Felix on the occasion also stressed on the need to assess ground status of all the Gram Panchayats and blocks within 2 weeks including re­assessment of additional households and non-existent/defunct toilets to make it open defecation free in a true sense.

Since the flagship programme is directly monitored by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) and is one of the priority sectors of present state government, the implementing agency has to dedicate all out efforts for timely implementation of the programme in state,” said Felix.

Summing up the review commissioner H K Shalla expressed his happiness over improvement in the performance of field level officers in execution of various components of SBM-(G).

He further reiterated for preparedness of all field functionaries to facilitate effective implementation of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from April 1 next in all payments to beneficiaries under SBM-(G).

Earlier CE (Sanitation) Toko Jyoti briefed the house on the objectives of the meeting.
