ITANAGAR, May 20: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) on Saturday denounced a resolution by Adi Bane Kebang (ABK) and urged its president Kangir Jamoh to refrain from taking “illogical and unconstitutional” decisions.
The resolution was taken at Kora village on April 30.
Addressing media persons at the Arunachal Press Club (APC) here, GWS general secretary Dr Minge Loyi said Jamoh, during the rally, had resolved to uphold the Dharmendra Sharma-led high power committee resolution whose report is yet to be submitted to the state government.
The report is still a secret document and not in public domain for its biased contents, the GWS said and rejected the stand of ABK and Adi Students’ Union. GWS also rejected ABK’s claim of ‘Adi land’ as there is “no such concept” in Arunachal Pradesh.
“GWS shall not endorse further transfer of any part of West Siang district for creation of a new district until and unless notified Lower Siang district and proposed Leparada district are made functional,” Loyi said.
The GWS also demanded the immediate transfer of East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak for “failing to maintain peace and tranquillity” to facilitate the visit of a group of ministers (GoM) for field investigation.
The society alleged that the DC had provided misinformation about the law and order situation to put off the GoM visit to Kora on May 7 but had on that very day held a public hearing there. This, the GWS said, showed he is biased.
The GWS demanded the posting of neutral officers to deal with the Lower Siang district issues and insisted on shifting the May 27 meeting venue from Pasighat to Itanagar. It threatened to boycott the meeting if it is not chaired by the chief secretary.
Demanding the immediate posting of DC and SP and making Likabali the headquarters, GWS also appealed to the Galo MLAs to facilitate the implementation of its demands.
