PASIGHAT, Jun 10: Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Saturday dedicated the Aalo-Pasighat-Roing-Tezu 132-kilovolt transmission systems to the state.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Power Minister Tamiyo Taga jointly launched the project entailing transmission lines from Aalo to Pasighat at 77 km, built by the state power department.
From Pasighat, the transmission lines stretch to Tezu via Roing at 174 km. The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) built this stretch, a report from the CMO said.
The project also includes 2x5 MVA, 132/33-kilovolt sub-station at Dura Korong, which was commissioned by the power minister.
The deputy chief minister energised the 132-kilovolt transmission systems of PGCIL from Pasighat to Tezu via Roing. Taga spoke over the hotline in Roing to confirm the supply of electric power.
“The work for power transmission system started in 2005 but got delayed in the following years,” Khandu said in a simple function held at Pasighat. He added that after taking charge he had issued clear-cut instruction to the power department to make the project operational by the summer of 2017.
He thanked the power department officials for sticking to deadline and the DoNER Ministry for funding Rs 70-crore for the project.
"The line is capable of transmitting 150 megawatts of electricity in its first phase, and its capacity will be doubled in the future," the chief minister said.
"This project is crucial for ensuring the supply of electric power with reliability, quality, stability and sustainability, which will benefit more than 5 lakh people across 1,800 villages,” he said, adding it will greatly improve the economy and living conditions of the people.
Khandu said the inauguration of the 133 kV power transmission line reflects his government’s resolve to complete all unfinished projects in the state.
He also announced that work on 95 km of transmission lines for the remaining stretch of Tezu to Namsai will be completed in four months’ time.
Earlier, Agriculture Parliamentary Secretary Tatung Jamoh and Disaster Management Parliamentary Secretary Kaling Moyong jointly launched the two interconnecting transformers at the sub-station.
The inaugural was also attended by RD Minister Alo Libang, state BJP President Tapir Gao, Advisor to CM Lombo Tayeng, MLA Kento Rina, Power Commissioner Ashis Kundra, Chief Engineer A Perme, Pasighat DC Tamiyo Tatak, and Power Grid General Manager Ajay Patir besides BJP party officials, the report added.
