DOIMUKH, May 29: Though some organisations are opposing the recent cabinet’s decision to shift Divisional Commissioner (West) office from Yazali to Yupia, but it is meant for development of whole western areas, and in any case it needs to be functional, at the earliest, said Urban Development, Land Management Nabam Rebia Minister while on a inspection to the ongoing construction work of divisional commissioner office at Yupia today.
Rebia was accompanied by Papum Pare DC in/charge Mabi Taipodia and Head of Departments (HoDs).
Earlier, All Yachuli Students’ Union (AYSU) and All Lower Subansiri District Students’ Union has demanded for review of the cabinet decision within 10 days. Both the unions fervently appealed the chief minister to immediately review the cabinet decision of dated 18th May 2017 and direct the concerned authority to immediately start functioning of the divisional commissioner office from Yachuli.
During inspection, the team observed that after minor renovation, the divisional commissioner office would be made fully functional.
The team also visited the under construction stadium, APSCDRC, UD guest house, library, DMO and DC offices.
Rebia directed the DC and UPO to take note of the pathetic condition of UD guest house which is being temporarily used as boy’s hostel for NIT students.
Later, Rebia attend a coordination meeting of the HoDs and discussed upon issues related to their respective departments.
He further directed the officers not to compromise in the matter of illegal land encroachment as government land has been earmarked for the development of district headquarter.
In the meeting, the HoDs apprised the minister of urgent need for creation of Sub-Treasury office in Yupia to which Rebia assured to pursue the matter with the authority concerned.
